Mrs. Mattie Mae Cobb Hopkins, 87, of 712 James St., Washington, and formerly of 708 W. 13th St., Washington, died Monday, June 9, 2008, at home.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Cornerstone Family Life Worship Center, Washington, with Bishop James S. McIntyre Sr., pastor Clara Albritton and Bishop James Boston officiating. Burial will follow at Pamlico Memorial Gardens, Washington.
Mrs. Hopkins was born in Beaufort County on Dec. 13, 1920. She was the daughter of the late Ida Cobb Bell and Will Langley. She earned her GED. She was married to William Frank Hopkins Sr., who preceded her in death Jan. 6, 2006. She had been employed at John Small School cafeteria in Washington. She was a lifelong member of the Ninth Street Church of God, now Cornerstone Family Life Worship Center in Washington.
Survivors include four daughters, Sarah Godley, Gloria Moore, Barbara Floyd and Brenda Williams, all of Washington; one sister, Christine Cutler of Washington; 10 grandchildren 13 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, William Frank “June” Hopkins Jr.; six sisters, Henrietta Bell, Janie Godley, Odelia Knight, Frances Knight, Lethel Bell Ford and Mary Barrow and one brother, William A. Cobbs.
The family will receive friends at the home.
Arrangements are by Randolph Funeral Home, 219 N. Bonner St., Washington.
