Mr. James Alvin Wagoner Jr., 76, of Hampton, Va., died Thursday, June 12, 2008.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in the chapel of W.J. Smith &Son Funeral Home, Newport News, Va., with the Rev. Joe Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park in Hampton, Va.
Mr. Wagoner was born Sept. 12, 1931, the son of Mr. and Mrs. James A. Wagoner Sr. He served in the Army during the Korean conflict. He was married to Mary E. Wagoner, who survives. He was employed for more than 40 years with Tenneco, where he worked in X-31/electricians for more than 30 years and later moved to planners where he worked until his retirement. He volunteered with Explorer Post No. 140 of the Boy Scouts of America. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Monica Holt; one son, James Preston Wagoner; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Peggy Melbourn, Hilda Odom and Cathy Beddard and two brothers, Curtis Wagoner and Eugene Wagoner.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 5-6 p.m. at W. J. Smith &Son Funeral Home, Newport News, Va.
