Mrs. Aileen Buck Mills, age 79, of 709 Hwy. 33 W., Chocowinity, died Friday, June 13, 2008, at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 16, 2008, at Paul Funeral Home of Washington and will be conducted by Travis Boyd, Tommy Boyd and Billy Boyd. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.
Troy Buck, Frankie Buck, Bryant Buck, Aubrey Moore, Tommy Boyd and Billy Boyd will serve as pallbearers and Joe Whitley will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
Mrs. Mills was born in Beaufort County on June 17, 1928, to the late Jesse Bryant Buck and Velma Hodges Buck. She married Jesse Elmer Mills, Sr., who preceded her in death on June 30, 1991. She was a 1947 graduate of Chocowinity High School, studied early childhood development for 2 years at Beaufort Community College and then was employed by Beaufort County Schools, where she retired after 35 years of service. She was a member of the Chocowinity First Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Patsy Mills Lang of Kinston; one son, Jesse Elmer Mills, Jr.; three brothers, Delon Buck of Washington, Frank Buck of Washington and Jimmy Buck of Chocowinity; five sisters, Janice Boyd of Blounts Creek, Audrey Pearl Moore of Washington, Evelyn Buck of Cottonwood, Ariz., Vivian Elks of Chocowinity and Carolyn Williams of Chocowinity; five grandchildren, Christy Fyle, Natalie Jones, Gary Hodges, Ted Hodges and Jessica Mills; nine great-grandchildren, Katie, Amanda and Tommy Fyle; Nicholas and Lauren Dotson; Jessica, Julie, and Gerringer Hodges and Sequoia Hodges; and special friends, Debbie Jackson and Dawn Carawan.
Mrs. Mills was preceded in death by two daughters, Velma Jean Hodges on September 12, 1982 and Lucy Jane Mills on December 31, 2007, and by two brothers, Ted Buck and Joe Buck, and by one sister, Laura Elks.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today, June 15, 2008, at Paul Funeral Home of Washington and other times at the home, 709 Hwy. 33 W., Chocowinity.
