Mrs. Elizabeth Manning Jackson, 82, of 119 Gatlin St., Williamston, died Wednesday, June 18, 2008.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Piney Grove Baptist Church with Dean Harrell, Chris Minton and the Rev. Roger Leggett officiating. Burial will follow in Tice Cemetery.
Mrs. Jackson was born in Martin County on Oct. 27, 1925. She was the daughter of the late Mary Whitley and Herbert Manning. On Feb. 4, 1951, she married Wilbur L. Jackson, who preceded her in death Oct. 22, 1993. She worked in sales at Belks for 42 years until her retirement. She worked 13 years for Wilburs LTD. She was a member of Memorial Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Connie J. Whitaker and husband Mark of Gold Point; four sisters, Eva Gray Askew of Jamesville, and Louise Gurkin, Margaret Hardison and Melba Hardison, all of Williamston; two brothers, Herbert Leslie Manning of Kinston and W.N. “Pinky” Manning of Williamston; and two granddaughters, Caroline and Hayley Whitaker of Gold Point.
The family will receive friends today from 7-8:30 p.m. at Biggs Funeral Home in Williamston and other times at the home of Connie Whitaker, 1995 N.C. Highway 903, Robersonville.
Flowers are accepted or memorials may be given to Donna Scott Scholarship Fund, Roanoke Bible College, Elizabeth City, N.C. Paid Obituary
