Mrs. Rosetta Basnight Burwell, 70, died Sunday, June 22, 2008, at St. Vincents Medical Center in Bridgeport, Conn.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Salem Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Zion Grove Church cemetery.
Mrs. Burwell was born in Tyrrell County on Feb. 26, 1938. She was the daughter of the late Marlivina Hill and Malachi Basnight. She was married to Ellis Burwell Sr. She had been employed as a machinist until her retirement.
Survivors include two sons, Ellis Burwell Jr. and James Burwell; two daughters, Denise Louis and Avis Samuel; two brothers, McDoylie Basnight of Columbia and Stennie Basnight of New York; three sisters, Daisy Basnight, Virginia Basnight and Lillie Basnight of New York; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are by Rowsom Funeral Home, Columbia.
