Doris Wilson Butt, 74, of 6810 N. C. Highway 94, Fairfield, died Thursday, July 10, 2008, at her home.
Born in Tilton, Illinois, September 26, 1933, she was the daughter of the late John and Opal Lourine Madden Wilson. During her work she served as a nurse’s aide and had worked with Carolina Cardiology Consultants in Raleigh. She was a very active musician and served as the pianist with Engelhard Christian Church, Disciples of Christ until her illness. She enjoyed baking, crocheting, knitting and crafting.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Engelhard Christian Church.
Pastor Scott Sukeforth will officiate.
Surviving are three sons, Floyd Braxter Butt and wife, Barbara of Fairfield, John Douglas Butt and wife, Marcy of Mesa, AR and David Wayne Butt and wife, Tammie of Garner; three daughters, Marilynne Jean Johnson of Pittsboro, Rebecca June Jenkins and husband, Kenny of Hayes VA and Josie DiCesare of Greenville; sixteen grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a special friend, Colleen M. Carawan.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Jack Ashbaugh and Dick Ashbaugh and a sister, Betty Lou Weinke.
The family suggests that memorials be directed to Community Home Care and Hospice, P. O. Box 130, Engelhard NC 27824 or Hyde County Relay for Life, 7119 Sladesville-Credle Road, Scranton NC 27875.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the home of Floyd and Barbara Butt in Fairfield.
