Mrs. Mary Clark Sherod of 206 Heritage Park Drive, Washington, died Monday, July 7, 2008, at Britthaven of Washington.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in St. John Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. William Frank Whitehead officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Sherod was born in Martin County on Oct. 5, 1926. She was the daughter of the late Seth and Lena Corey Clark. She attended the Beaufort County Schools. She was married to Daniel Lee Sherod, who preceded her in death. She was a member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church, where she served on the usher and Mother boards.
Survivors include two daughters, Eva Gray Speller of Williamston, and Tashiba Elise Roberson of Washington; one stepdaughter, Sue S. Horton of Washington; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Vida Mae Tucker; and three siblings, Della Warren, Hannah Corey and Slade Corey.
The family will receive friends today from 2:30-7:30 p.m. at Leon Randolph Funeral Home, 208 W. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Washington, and other times at the home of her stepdaughter, 713 Boston Ave., Washington.
