Mr. David Franklin Sears, age 57, a resident of 4159 J.C. Galloway Road, Greenville, died Wednesday afternoon, July 9, 2008 as a result of injuries sustained on his job.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday July 12, 2008 at Pamlico Memorial Gardens officiated by Pastor Reggie Ethridge. Men from the church will serve as pallbearers.
David was born June 5, 1951, son of the late David T. Sears and Mattie Leigh Sears. He married the former Peggy Gray. David was a Transportation Supervisor with the North Carolina Department of Transportation, Beaufort County Maintenance. He was a member of the Family Life Tabernacle, in Greenville and served as head usher. He was secretary-treasurer of the Men’s Ministry. David was a past member of Old Ford Ruritan Club.
In addition to his wife, Peggy of the home, he is survived by his step-daughter, Tracy Swinton and her husband, Delano of Missouri; step-son, Wayne Wilson, Jr. of Grimesland; step-granddaughter, Chastity Swinson of Missouri; two sisters: Phyllis Jenkins and Pat Hodges both of Washington; nephews, Ernie Jenkins, Joey Jenkins, Mike Hodges, Gene Hodges, Mark Hodges; two nieces, Lynn Hodges and Shelia Jenkins; five great nieces and six great nephews.
The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Friday at Paul Funeral Home in Washington and other times at the home.
