Mrs. Ardis Johnson Forest

Mrs. Ardis Johnson Forest, 82, of 406 Lawson Road, Washington, died Friday, July 11, 2008, at the Beaufort County Hospital.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, July 14, 2008, at Oakdale Cemetery, Washington. Thomas Franz, Mayo Griffin, Ed Youmans, Ted Fraune, Robert Welch, John Groesser, Ryan Groesser, and Jason Groesser will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 13, 2008, at Mrs. Forest’s home.
Mrs. Forest was born June 16, 1926, in Grand Forks County, North Dakota. She was the daughter of the late Albert Seymour Johnson and Alvida Olivia Nelson Johnson. She was married to Robert Joseph Forest, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Forest was a retired teacher, having taught in Texas, North Carolina and Nebraska. She received her BA degree in Home Economics and Business Education from the University of North Dakota and later received her BA in Elementary Education from the University of Houston.
Mrs. Forest had been a resident of Beaufort County for approximately 20 years. She was a member of the Bodacious Babes of the Red Hat Society and the American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by her children, Phillip “Flipper” Anthony Forest of Washington, Jeanne Anne Forest of Durham, and Janet Forest Burgess and her husband, William “Bill” of Core Point; one sister, Verle Johnson Nienas of Portland, OR; and six grandchildren, William Buchanan Burgess and his wife, Lisa of Knightdale, Khansas Burgess Elliott and her husband, Mark of Bath, Kyle Forest Burgess, Nicole Woolard, Caroline Forest, and Olivia Forest, all of Washington.
