Mr. DeRotha Lee Flynn, 76, of 528 Swamp Road, Pantego, died Monday, July 14, 2008, at Beaufort County Hospital in Washington.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Randolph Funeral Home, 219 N. Bonner St., Washington with the Rev. Lawrence Satchell officiating. Burial will follow in Broad Creek Cemetery, Pantego.
Mr. Flynn was born in Beaufort County on Nov. 11, 1931. He was the son of the late Mary Brown Flynn and Dewey Flynn Sr. He attended the former Beaufort County High School, Pantego. He was an Army veteran. His employment was as a messenger with a travel agency. He was first married to Ann Williams Flynn. He later married Judith Selman Flynn, who preceded him in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Farah Flynn of Bronx, N.Y., and Maryam Flynn of Brooklyn, N.Y.; one son, Abdul Flynn of Ossining, N.Y.; one sister, Alice Nijman of Pantego; one son-in-kind, Carlton King of Pantego; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Ali Flynn; two sisters, Evelyn Flynn McGill and Pamela F. Phillips and three brothers, Ivory Flynn, Cleo Flynn and Dewey Flynn Jr.
The family will receive friends at the home of his sister and brother-in-law, Alice and Albert Nijman, 528 Swamp Road, Pantego.
