Mr. John Carlton Harper, age 53, a resident of 137 Nicholas Rd., Washington, died Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at his home.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday, July 18, 2008 at Pamlico Memorial Gardens and will be conducted by Rev. Gary Murphree.
John was born in Lafayette, La. on July 20, 1954 to the late William A. Harper and Edna Rowland Harper who survives. John was a graduate of Whiteville High School and received a degree in business from Appalachian State University. He was of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include his mother, Edna Rowland Harper of Washington, one brother, William Jeffrey Harper and wife Jackie of Locust, N.C., one uncle, William J. Rowland, Jr. and wife Rose of Washington, one aunt, Rebecca Wallace of Pinetown, one niece, Melissa Harper of Arapahoe, one nephew, Caleb Harper, best friend, Sheila Southern and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, William A. Harper on May 16, 2008. He was also preceded in death by three aunts, Margaret Hewitt, Georgia Askew and Ruth Rowland.
The family will receive friends at the home of his mother, Edna Rowland Harper, 124 Pondora Dr., Washington.
Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to the Wares Chapel United Methodist Church, 2788 N. Market St., Washington, NC 27889.
