William E. Ambrose

ROPER - Mr. William Eldridge Ambrose, 77, of Roper, died Friday at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville.
Born in Martin County, he was the son of the late Wilson E. and Sudie Lewis Ambrose and was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Eubank Ambrose; sister Emma A. Biggs; brothers, Robert Ambrose and Henry Ambrose. Mr. Ambrose was a retired tool room supervisor with Weyerhauser Corporation and a member of Mount Zion Free Will Baptist Church.
His family includes daughters Crystal Ambrose of Roper, Valinda Ingram of Calham, Colo.; sons, Richard Ambrose of Durham, Russell Ambrose of Greenville, Harold Ambrose and William Ambrose II of Roper; sisters, Eula Watson and Margaret Harrell of Edenton, Shelvia Owens of Columbia, Janis Smith of Roper, Ruth Styons of Plymouth and Peggy Spruill of Kinston; brothers, Earl Ambrose of Roper and Gene Ambrose of Kernersville; 24 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Maitland Memorial Chapel in Plymouth with Russell Ambrose officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends on Monday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Maitland Memorial Chapel and other times at the residence.
