Christine Roberson Hurst, 88, of Robersonville died Thursday, July 31, 2008 at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
Born October 1919, she was the daughter of Lawrence Joseph and Callie Brown Roberson. After graduating from high school, she attended business school in Raleigh and worked for the Secretary of State. Upon return to Robersonville, she married Charles Morton Hurst Jr. in 1946. In addition to raising three children, Mrs. Hurst kept books for her husband’s business and later her son’s business. In the 80’s she opened and operated a children’s clothing store with her sister-in-law Bennette Roberson.
Mrs. Hurst was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 51 years, her son, Don Roberson Hurst as well as her sisters, Carrie Lee Martin and Brownie Highsmith. She is survived by her brothers, Hoke S. Roberson of Windsor, and Kenneth H. Roberson of Robersonville, her son, C. Mort Hurst and wife Liz, her daughter, Chris Hurst Copley of Atlanta. She has five grandchildren, Lesley Hurst of Greensboro, Jeff Hurst, Andrew Hurst Copley of Jackson, Wyoming, Gilbert Hurst and Nathan Hurst.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday August 2, 2008 at her residence, 106 West Purvis Street.
A graveside service will be held Sunday August 3, 2008 at 12:30 p.m. at the Robersonville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Robersonville Rescue Squad, Main St. Robersonville NC 27871.
