Mrs. Rachel Cullipher Britton, 102, of Plymouth, died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008, at Plumblee Nursing Center in Plymouth.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Plymouth United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Jay Clark officiating. A private family burial will be held in Beaver Hill Cemetery in Edenton.
Mrs. Britton was born in Bertie County, the daughter of the late George Edward and Eunice Britt Cullipher. She was married to Benjamin F. Britton Jr., who preceded her in death. She was a member of Plymouth Garden Club, Washington County Hospital Auxiliary, Elizabeth City United Methodist Women’s Club and a Sunday school teacher. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Plymouth United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Eunice Britton Carraway of Plymouth; one sister, Liz C. Ramsaur of Wilmington; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, William E. Cullipher and Albert W. Cullipher.
The family will receive friends Saturday at Plymouth United Methodist Church following the funeral service and other times at the home.
Arrangements are by Maitland Memorial Chapel, Plymouth.
