Mrs. Ruth Cale Phelps, 73, of Ahoskie, died Thursday, Aug. 7, 2008, at her son’s home.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Creech Memorial Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Tom Ravan. Burial will follow in Ahoskie Cemetery.
Mrs. Phelps was born in Bertie County on Dec. 28, 1934. She was the daughter of the late William Odie and Belva Parker Cale. Mrs. Phelps was a member of Creech Memorial Baptist Church. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include a daughter, Charlotte Riddick of Ahoskie; two sons, Dale Phelps of Ahoskie and Justin Phelps of Nashville, Tenn.; a brother, Merle T. Cale of Spring Hope; four grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Mrs. Phelps was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Phelps.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Walker Funeral Home, Windsor, and other times at the home of Dale and Debbie Phelps, 320 Baker St., Ahoskie.
