Mrs. Joyce Hodges Harris, 62, a resident of Britthaven of Guilford County and formerly of Bath, died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2008, at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Paul Funeral Home, Washington with Clyde J. Harris Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery, Washington.
Mrs. Harris was born in Beaufort County on April 23, 1946. She was the daughter of the late Wilson Jordan Hodges and Callie Eborn Hodges. She was a 1964 graduate of the former Bath High School and earned a degree in accounting at Craven Community College. On March 23, 1970, she married Clyde James Harris Sr., who preceded her in death April 13, 2002. She was a bookkeeper with Ballard Tire &Oil Co. in New Bern until her retirement in 1995. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in New Bern.
Survivors include one son, Clyde J. Harris Jr. of Walkertown; one brother, C.C. Hodges of Washington; one sister, Betty Leggett of Washington and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Angela Harris Smith.
The family will receive friends today from 6-8 p.m. at Paul Funeral Home, Washington and other times at the home of her cousin, Alta Clayton, 3723 Harvey Road, Washington.
