GREENVILLE — Flossie Warren Peaden, 83, died Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at her home.
The funeral service will be conducted Friday at 3:30 p.m. in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Pinewood Memorial Park.
Flossie, a native of Pitt County, was a resident of the Greenville and Pactolus communities. She attended the Pactolus schools, and was a lifelong member of Parkers Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. They moved to Edgecombe County operating a store for four years, later moving back to Greenville. Before operating Peadens Grill, Flossie was employed with Fieldcrest Mills, and her husband Guy V. Peaden worked for Pepsi Cola.
In July 1957, she and her husband founded Peadens Grill, buying the business from her brother, J. F. Warren, Jr. Flossie was a very devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother for five generations, sister, and loyal friend to many.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jerry F. Warren, Sr. and Ludie Morris Warren, husband, Guy V. Peaden in 1983, son Walter Vernon Peaden in 2002, brothers, Joe Eddie Warren, J. F. Warren, Jr., Clarence Lester Warren, and Robert Jesse Warren, and sister, Martha Bell Keel, daughter in-law, Jean Wilson Peaden, and granddaughter, Sandra Jean Windham.
She is survived by her: children, Mable Peaden and husband, Donald, Billy Ray Peaden and wife, Nancy C., and Terry Wayne Peaden and wife, Brenda B., all of Greenville; sisters, Margaret Warren Macon, Ludie Warren Collins, both of Greenville; sisters in-law, Lela Bea Warren, of Washington, and Willa Peaden, of Belvoir; daughter in-law, Nancy Wilson Peaden, of Greenville; nine grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; five step-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wilkerson Funeral Home, and other times at the home of Mable and Donald Peaden.
