Mrs. Vina Hill Warren, age 92, a former resident of Blounts Creek, NC died Tuesday August 19, 2008 at Britthaven Nursing Home of Washington.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday August 22, 2008 at the Ephesus Free Will Baptist Church in Blounts Creek officiated by Pastor Melvin Haas. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery of Washington. Glenn Forrest, Darien Waters, Brian Warren, Scott Waters, Jimmie Lewis and Terry Ward will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Boyd, Billy Boyd and Billy Slade.
Mrs. Warren was born in Beaufort County on May 4, 1916 daughter of the late Lazarus Bryan Hill and the late Matilda Cutler Hill. She married Monford Russell Warren on November 24, 1937 who preceded her in death on July 25, 1992. Mrs. Warren was a homemaker and a member of Ephesus Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son: Russell Warren and his wife Phyllis of Blounts Creek; two daughters: Frances Warren Forrest of Vanceboro and Betty Jean Waters and her husband Russell of Washington; a brother: Lester Hill of Blounts Creek; six grandchildren: Pam Slade of Blounts Creek, Glenn Forrest of New Bern, Angie Ward of Surf City, Darien Waters of Clayton, Brian Warren of Blounts Creek and Scott Waters of Greenville; fourteen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. Mrs. Warren was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today at Paul Funeral Home of Washington and at other times at each of the children’s homes in Blounts Creek, Vanceboro and Washington.
