Mr. Michael Ray Jones, 54, of 10107 Woodvale Ct., Richmond, Va., died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2008, at McGuire Medical Center.
A funeral with full military rites will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in St. John Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Harlen Trotman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Jones was born in Chowan County on Oct. 16, 1953. He was the son of Albert Mitchell Jones Sr. and Alverita Riddick Jones of Creswell. He was married to Cynthia Jones, who survives. He was an administrative specialist at Walter Reed Medical Center. He was a retired veteran with several awards including Army commendation medal, Army achievement medal, overseas service ribbon 2 and expert badge with rifle bar. He was a member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Derrick Jones of Roper and Dwane Jones of Apex; three daughters, Gineen Owens of Greensboro, Nicole Jones and Amanda Jones, both of Texas; five brothers, Albert Jones Jr. of Lanover, Md., Willie Joseph Jones of Louisa, Va., Frederick Jones and Niel Jones, both of Charlotte, and Perry Jones of Virginia Beach, Va.; and three sisters, Allison Young, Lana Jones and Michelle Hudson, all of Charlotte.
The family will receive friends today from 7-8 p.m. at St. John Missionary Baptist Church and other times at the home of his parents, 200 East Leigh, Creswell.
Arrangements are by Toodle’s Funeral Home, Plymouth.
