Mrs. Cora Elizabeth Young Bonner, 60, of 884 Park Place, Brooklyn, N.Y., and formerly of Pantego, died Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008, at New York Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn, N.Y.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, at Macedonia Church of Christ Disciples of Christ, Pantego, with Elder Donald Peartree officiating. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery, Washington.
Mrs. Bonner was born March 1, 1948, in Beaufort County. She was the daughter of Ollie Mae Young and the late Johnnie Riley Clark Sr. She was a 1966 graduate of the Beaufort County High School, Pantego. She did further studies at North Carolina College in the field of nursing. In New York she continued her studies and became a certified nursing assistant. Her employment was as a U.S. Postal mail sorter, certified nursing assistant, special counselor for Girl Scouts of America, and school safety officer. During her early years she was a member of Macedonia Church of Christ Disciples of Christ, Pantego. After relocating to New York she joined the Washington Temple Church. She later moved her membership to St. Paul Church of Christ Disciples of Christ, Brooklyn, N.Y.
On July 15, 1978, she was married to Linwood Bonner Sr. who survives.
Survivors include one daughter, Arlene Bonner of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two sons, Edward Bolling and Linwood Bonner Jr., both of Brooklyn, N.Y.; her mother, Ollie Mae Young of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two sisters, Dorothy Marie Clark of Jamaica, N.Y., and Michelle Spencer of Belhaven; three brothers, Johnnie R. Clark Jr. of Fayetteville, Dwight Clark of New York, N.Y., and Nelda Young of Brooklyn, N.Y.; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are by Randolph Funeral Home, 219 N. Bonner St., Washington.
