Mr. James Henry Beddard, 64, of 2911 Terrapin Track Road, Washington, died Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2008, at home.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Oakdale Cemetery, Washington, with pastor Danny Barrow officiating.
Mr. Beddard was born in Beaufort County on Sept. 16, 1943. He was the son of the late Leslie Leroy Beddard and Laura Beacham Beddard. On April 3, 1970, he married the former Betty Jane McDonald, who survives. He was a retired gas truck driver with Taylor Oil Company and Alligood-Owens Gas Company (now Tidewater Energy). He was a member of Faith Free Will Baptist Church, where he served on the church advisory board and in the church choir.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Jane Silverthorne of Washington and Laura Prahl of Gresham, Wis.; four sisters, Laura Narron of Washington, Essie Black of Greenville, Dorothy Everett of Belvoir and Betty Lou Lewis of Greensboro; three brothers, Leslie Beddard Jr. of Williamston, and Garland Beddard and Bobby Beddard, both of Washington; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends after the service at Faith Free Will Baptist Church, 641 River Road, Washington.
