Mrs. Martha M. Boyd of 119 Boyd Acres, Washington, died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008, at home.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Beebe Memorial C.M.E. Church with the Rev. Edward Moultrie Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Washington.
Mrs. Boyd was born Nov. 7, 1925, the daughter of the late Shepard and Maggie Mitchell Moore. She was a graduate of Caswell County High School and Winston-Salem Teachers College in Winston-Salem. She was married to Jobe Boyd Jr., who preceded her in death Dec. 17, 1992. She was a member of Beebe Memorial C.M.E. Church, where she served on the stewardess board, Sunday school teacher, Willing Workers and vacation Bible school teacher.
Survivors include four daughters, Sharon Hart, Myra Callahan and Jolette Young of Fort Washington, Md., and LaVerne McGuire of White Plains, Md.; one son, Terrence Boyd of the home; three sisters, Blondelia Cobb of Glendale, Md., Eunice Lownes of Harrisburg, Pa., and Sherdina Harris of Danville, Va.; three brothers, David Moore of Washington, D.C., Benjamin Moore and Lawrence Moore, both of Blanche; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Annie B. Wadlington and Katie Mae Jeffries.
The family will receive friends today from 7-8 p.m. at Leon Randolph Funeral Home, 208 W. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Washington.
