C.J. Wilson had six tackles for the No. 15 East Carolina Pirates in Saturday’s 30-24 overtime loss to N.C. State.
Wilson, a junior defensive end, had 1.5 tackles for loss. The former Northside High School star recorded a sack and three quarterback hurries.
For the season, Wilson has 22 tackles, 6.5 tackles-for-loss (for 23 yards), 3.5 sacks, four quarterback hurries and one blocked kick.
The Pirates (3-1, 1-0 C-USA) return to action Saturday at home against Houston.
Clemmons sees action against East Carolina
Jamaine Clemmons saw game action for the fourth straight game in N.C. State’s 30-24 overtime win over East Carolina on Saturday.
Clemmons, a former standout at Williamston High School, has not been credited with a tackle yet this season. The defensive end wears No. 90 for the Wolfpack.
N.C. State (2-2, 0-1 ACC) plays host to South Florida on Saturday.
Goddard gets two tackles
Trimane Goddard had two tackles for the North Carolina Tar Heels in Saturday’s 20-17 loss to Virginia Tech.
Goddard has 10 tackles, one interception and one pass break-up on the season.
The Heels (2-1) play at Miami on Saturday.
Marable has big day
Jeremiah Marable had a big day for Elizabeth City in Saturday’s 15-7 loss to Wingate.
The former Southside High School star recorded 13 tackles in the loss.
On the season, Marable 25 six tackles, a fumble recovery, a blocked punt, a blocked punt return that went for a touchdown and a punt return for nine yards.
The Vikings (1-3) play host to Saint Augustine’s on Saturday.
Rodgers and Cahoon help Bishops win
Nigel Rodgers and Micke’l Cahoon helped the North Carolina Wesleyan Bishops pick up their first win of the season, coming in Saturday’s 17-16 nod over Emory &Henry College.
Rodgers, a former standout at Washington High School who started the game at defensive back, had 3.5 tackles for the Bishops. Rodgers has 10.5 tackles and one pass break-up on the season.
Cahoon, a former standout at Creswell High School, had two tackles, including 1.5 for loss. He has 4.5 tackles, including three for loss, on the season.
Wesleyan (1-2) plays host to Methodist University on Saturday.
Palmer nets five tackles
Greg Palmer came up with five tackles for the Chowan Hawks in Saturday’s 69-20 loss to Virginia Military Institute.
The former Northside High School standout has 13 tackles in four games.
Chowan (1-3) plays host to Virginia Union on Saturday.
Hyman has two tackles
Kenneth Hyman, a former standout with the Roanoke Redskins, had two tackles Saturday as the Guilford Quakers lost 31-24 to Averett.
For the season, Hyman has 12 tackles, two interceptions, two pass break-ups and four pass deflections.
The Quakers (2-1) play at Hampden-Sydney on Saturday.
Daniels has quiet day
Travis Daniels didn’t put up any stats for UNC-Pembroke in Saturday’s 22-21 win over Jacksonville.
The freshman, a former standout at Washington High School, has rushed for 21 yards on six carries. He’s caught two passes for 32 yards.
The Braves (3-1) play at Lane on Saturday.
Quiet day for Jones
Jamont Jones did not record any stats in Lenoir-Rhyne’s 17-13 loss to Bendedict on Saturday.
The former Washington Pam Pack standout, a freshman with the Bears, has one interception, two tackles and one punt return that was good for eight yards.
The Bears (2-2) play at Brevard College on Saturday.
Smith playing at Campbell
Trey Smith did not record any stats for Campbell in Saturday’s 43-7 loss to San Diego.
Smith, a defensive lineman, is a former standout at Mattamuskeet High School.
The Fighting Camels (0-4) play at Carthage College on Saturday.
Prescott getting playing time
Freshman Blaine Prescott has been getting some playing time for the Lees-McRae Bobcats soccer team.
The former Washington High School star has played in all seven games, while starting two of them.
Prescott has attempted two shots on goal for Lees-McRae (6-1), which fell 2-0 to Coker on Saturday..
The Bobcats play host to Pikeville College on Tuesday.
Crompton in goal
Ashley Crompton has made one appearance on the field for the Mount Olive Trojans soccer team.
Crompton, a former standout at Washington High School, has not recorded any statistics.
The Trojans (0-6) play host to Catawba on Tuesday.
Locals on Pitt volleyball
A few former area athletes are playing for the Pitt Community College volleyball team.
Michelle Bracey, a former standout at Williamston High School, has 52 kills, 38 blocks and 14 digs.
Lauren O’Neal, also a former standout at Williamston, has 16 kills, 20 blocks, eight digs and one ace.
Augusta Johnston, a former standout at Southside High School, has nine kills, five blocks and three digs.
Pitt (8-4) plays at Louisburg College on Tuesday.
