Mrs. Hilda Blair Barnhill Carson, 95, of 142 Nelson St., Bethel died Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Bethel Cemetery.
Mrs. Carson was born in Bethel on June 27, 1913. She was the daughter of the late Russell Lafayette and Mary Williams Carson. She graduated from East Carolina College and taught in both Bethel and at North Pitt. She was married to Joseph Alton Carson, who preceded her in death in 1991. She retired from the Pitt County School System as a teacher. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, J. Hilton Carson of Greenville and two grandchildren.
The family will receive friends today from 7-8:30 p.m. at Walker’s Ayres Chapel in Bethel and other times at the home.
