Mr. Cecil Roberson, 84, of Plymouth died Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2008, at Washington County Hospital in Plymouth.
A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church, Plymouth with the Rev. Jimmy Hagwood officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Roberson was born in Martin County, the son of the late Wiley B. and Carrie Clark Roberson. He was married to Allie Hardison Roberson, who preceded him in death. He later married Sue Jones Roberson, who survives. He worked as a pipe fitter with Weyerhaeuser Corp. until his retirement. He was a member of Perseverance Lodge No. 59, Welch Creek and Pine Tree Hunting Clubs. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Plymouth.
Survivors include one daughter, Dwan R. Light of Zebulon; four sons, William C. Roberson of Murfreesboro, Stanley Chesson of Atlanta, Ga., and Russell Chesson and Brad Chesson, both of New Bern; three sisters, Marjorie R. Modlin of Morehead City, Hurley R. Keel and Lollie R. Biggs of Williamston; one brother, Wiley B. Roberson Jr. of Williamston; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Annie R. Steigerwalt and three brothers, Tommy Roberson, Jack Roberson and Mack Roberson.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 2-3 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Plymouth and other times at the home.
Arrangements are by Maitland Memorial Chapel, Plymouth.
