Mr. Donald Edgar Rankin, Jr., age 55, a resident of 11225 Hwy. 99 S., Bath, NC, passed away September 23, 2008.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, October 2, 2008 at Bonner Point in Bath with David Mason officiating. Following the service, the family will receive friends at the home of Tommy Franz, 975 Gum Point Road, Bath.
Mr. Rankin was born August 30, 1953 in Beaufort County. He was the son of the late Donald Edgar Rankin, Sr. and Tiny Lee Jones Quintana. A life long resident of Beaufort County, Donald attended Washington High School. He was a commercial fisherman for fifteen years. On April 9, 1970, he married the former Mary Lancaster, who survives.
Donald was a lover of the water. He was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He will truly be missed by his family, his dog Sassy and many friends.
Survivors include his wife, Mary L. Rankin; one daughter, Mary Christine Rankin of Bath; two sisters, Mary R. Munford of Robersonville and Betty Rankin of Washington; one brother, George Edward Rankin of Bath; and one granddaughter, Mariah Elaine Barrow of Bath.
