The Pam Pack had trouble getting a clean shot on goal in the first half.
However, it had no such trouble after the intermission.
Washington rallied from a 1-0 deficit by scoring four goals in the final 25 minutes to defeat D.H. Conley, 4-1 on Wednesday.
After a scoreless first half, the Vikings got on the scoreboard five minutes into the second half as forward Francis Paye outraced Washngton’s defense and dribbled the ball past Pam Pack goalie Steven Worsley into a wide open net to make it 1-0.
The Pam Pack answered ten minutes later as T.J. Crompton took a shot on goal that bounced off a Conley defender and ricocheted past Vikings’ goalie Corey Francis.
From there, Pam Pack forward John Lohman took charge.
In the 62nd minute, Lohman broke past the Vikings defense into the penalty box. Before he could get off a clean shot, he was turned head over heels by Francis, who completely missed the ball, setting up a penalty kick.
For the second straight game, Washington’s Bladimir Romero capitalized on a penalty kick, lacing a shot into bottom left corner of the net to give the Pack a 2-1 lead.
Ninety seconds later, Lohman gave Washington a 3-1 lead as he found a crease in the Vikings’ defense and ripped a perfect shot past Francis.
The Washington senior cemented the game in the final two minutes with his second goal, floating a shot over the goalkeeper’s head to make the final score 4-1 in favor of the Pam Pack.
Washington outshot D.H. Conley in both halves. In the second half alone, the Pam Pack outshot the Vikings 11-4.
The win was the second conference win in three days for the Pam Pack. Kozuch can see his team getting more confident with each victory.
Washington will look to score another Coastal Conference win this evening, when it travels to Havelock to play the Rams at 7 p.m.
Notes: Washington’s junior varsity team tied D.H. Conley 0-0. The young Pam Pack are now 1-2-2 on the year.
