Mr. Grover Allen Edwards, age 77, a resident of 756 Old Bath Highway, Washington died Thursday October 2, 2008 at his home.
A graveside service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, October 5, 2008 at Oakdale Cemetery officiated by Dr. Jimmy Moore. Trevor Allen Edwards, Robert Davis Edwards, James Menke, John Robert Hill, III, Ed Cherry, Ryan Hill and Daren Hill will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Timberlake-Baraca Sunday School class.
Mr. Edwards was born in Beaufort County on August 9, 1931. He was the son of the late Clyde Robert Edwards and Alice Mixon Edwards. On March 5, 1955 he married the former Joyth Hill. Mr. Edwards served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He worked as a buyer with Rumley Auto Parts. Mr. Edwards was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Timberlake-Baraca Sunday School class.
Mr. Edwards is survived by his wife, Joyth of the home; two sons, Grover Allen Edwards, II and his wife Bambi Smith Edwards of New Bern and Robert Kemp Edwards and his wife Teresa S. Edwards of Creedmoor, NC; three grandchildren, Trevor Allen Edwards, Terri Edwards Menke and Robert Davis Edwards; six great grandchildren, Seth G. Gartin, Jayden E. Menke, Alaina A. Menke, Madison E. Edwards, Emily B. Edwards and McKenzie G. Edwards.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. Sunday, October 5, 2008 at Paul Funeral Home and other times at the home.
