Mr. Edward Lee Spencer Sr., 76, of 7169 Terra Ceia Road, Pantego, died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008, at Beaufort County Hospital in Washington.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 25319 U.S. Highway 264 East, Pantego, with minister Daniel G. Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Northside Cemetery, Belhaven.
Mr. Spencer was born Oct. 5, 1931, in Hyde County. He was the son of the late Emily Harris Spencer and Renzo Spencer. He attended the public schools of Hyde County. He was a self-employed furniture woodworking carpenter. He was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Pantego, and served as elder. On Feb. 16, 1949, he married Viola Arthur Spencer, who survives.
Survivors include five sons, Edward L. Spencer Jr. and Johnny E. Spencer, both of Belhaven, Glen R. Spencer of Wendell, Vincent C. Spencer of the home and Donald R. Spencer of Raleigh; three sisters, Elizabeth Spencer and Rosetta Clark, both of Belhaven, and Mavis Percell of Winterville; one brother, John C. Spencer of Belhaven; seven grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Spencer was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
The family will receive friends at the home, 7169 Terra Ceia Road, Pantego.
