Mr. Joseph White Sr., 93, of 107 E. Catawba Road, Greenville, died Sunday, Oct. 12, 2008, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Saturday in Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church, 1095 Allen Road, Greenville, with Elder Bobby Wooten and Minister Rhonda Jordan officiating. Burial will follow in St. John Baptist Church cemetery, Falkland.
Mr. White was born in Pitt County on Aug. 21, 1915. He was the son of the late Henry and Henrietta Bell White. He attended the Pitt County Schools. On Aug. 9, 1950, he married Bessie Langley White, who survives. He had been employed as a farmer. He was a member of Rock Spring Free Will Baptist Church, Greenville, where he served on the trustee board.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia W. Crawford of Charleston, S.C., and Darlyn White of Greenville; one son, Joseph White Jr. of Greenville; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by seven brothers and eight sisters.
The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
The family will receive friends at the home.
