Goddard gets another pick

Trimane Goddard picked off his sixth pass of the year for the North Carolina Tar Heels in Saturday’s 28-7 win over Georgia Tech. Goddard intercepted the pass in the fourth quarter and returned it 19 yards. He also had two tackles in the win.
For the season, Goddard, a former star at Roanoke High School, has six interceptions, 36 tackles, three pass break-ups, a fumble recovery and a forced fumble.
Goddard has 11 interceptions and 164 tackles in his career.
The Heels (7-2, 3-2 ACC) return to action Saturday in a 3:30 p.m. game at Maryland.
Wilson records sack
C.J. Wilson recorded another sack for the East Carolina Pirates in Saturday’s 19-16 overtime win against Marshall. The defensive end finished with four tackles, including 1.5 for loss and the 4-yard sack.
Wilson, a former Northside High School star, has 44 tackles, 14 tackles-for-loss (for 49 yards), 6.5 sacks, four quarterback hurries, one forced fumble and one blocked kick.
The defensive end now has 109 tackles and 17.5 sacks in his career.
The Pirates (6-3, 4-1 C-USA) return to action Saturday in a 3 p.m. game at Southern Miss.
Daniels runs for 45 yards
Travis Daniels ran for 45 yards on nine carries for the UNC-Pembroke Braves in Saturday’s 21-7 win over North Greenville in the season finale. He also had a 22-yard kickoff return.
The former Washington High School star, a freshman with the UNC-Pembroke Braves (9-1), rushed for 340 yards and two touchdowns on 51 carries. He caught nine passes for 111 yards, and had four kickoff returns for 91 yards (22.7 average).
Hyman gets interception
Kenneth Hyman came up with his fourth interception for the Guilford Quakers in Saturday’s 49-34 loss to Catholic. He also broke up a pass and had one tackle.
Hyman, a former standout with the Roanoke Redskins, has 24 tackles, four interceptions (one returned for a touchdown), seven pass break-ups and six pass deflections.
The Quakers (4-5, 1-4 ODAC) close out the season Saturday in a 1 p.m. game at Emory &Henry.
Marable has four tackles
Jeremiah Marable finished with four tackles for the Elizabeth City State University Vikings in Saturday’s 36-7 loss to Shaw in the CIAA championship game.
On the season, Marable, a former standout at Southside High School, has 59 tackles, an interception return for a touchdown, a blocked punt return for a touchdown, a fumble recovery, a blocked punt, a punt return of nine yards and three pass break-ups for the Vikings (7-4).
Rodgers, Cahoon in action
Nigel Rodgers and Micke’l Cahoon helped lead the North Carolina Wesleyan Bishops to victory in Saturday’s 41-4 nod over Ferrum College.
Rodgers, a former standout at Washington High School, had four tackles. He has 23.5 tackles and one pass break-up on the season.
Cahoon, a former standout at Creswell High School, had a 3-yard sack. He has 19 tackles, including 11.5 for loss totaling 47 yards, on the season.
Jarret Coffield, a former standout at Williamston High School, was 0-for-1 in the game. He is 1-for-4 for 79 yards and a touchdown from his quarterback spot.
Also, Floyd Moore, a former standout at Southside High School, has not recorded any tackles to date.
Wesleyan (5-4, 4-2 USA South Conference) close the season in a 1 p.m. home game Saturday against Greensboro College.
Jones has busy night
Jamont Jones was busy fielding kickoffs for the Lenoir-Rhyne Bears in Saturday’s 58-23 loss to Catawba College in the season finale. Jones had seven kickoff returns for 163 yards (23.3 average). He also finished with three tackles.
The former Washington Pam Pack standout, a freshman with the Bears, had 14 tackles, three pass break-ups, one interception (15-yard return), 14 kickoff returns for 337 yards (24.1 average) and two punt returns for 12 yards (6.0 average) on the season for the Bears (3-8, 1-6 SAC).
Cox playing with Blue Knights
Cor-J Cox is averaging 4.5 points, 2.2 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 0.7 steals with the Olney Central College Blue Knights.
Cox, a former standout at Washington High School, had hit 7 of 12 (58.3 percent) action shot and 3 of 4 (75 percent) free throws.
Smith sees game action
Samantha Smith scored two points for the Tallahassee Community College Lady Eagles in Saturday’s 81-74 win over Central Florida Community College.
Smith is a former standout at Washington High School.
Coffield still lighting it up
Elton Coffield is playing with the BSW Sixers in Germany once again.
The former Williamston High School and Mount Olive College star, who led the league in scoring last year, is averaging 22.2 points per game.
Barber playing in Japan
Joe Barber, a former standout at Terra Ceia College, is playing professionally in Japan.
Barber is averaging 9.7 points and 3.0 rebounds with the Sendia 89ers.
