Herta Josephine Huchok 1922 - 2008
Herta had a high degree of power of abstraction with which she approached all things. Not the thing in its immediate concrete singular position was seen, it was viewed as part of a whole: From all sides, in all facets, all at once.
All other characteristic qualities issued from there: Love of God, Unpretentiousness, Genuineness, and Humanity.
Even her attitude toward death can be understood, interpreted from this one source –
Her own words stated: “A star must be more than a speck of light in the night, even though this is all our senses will ever tell us about it”.
She will be sorely missed.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to: The First Free Will Baptist Church, 901 North Bonner Street, Washington, NC 27889.
