Terrance Copper won’t be playing in today’s game when the Baltimore Ravens play at the New York Giants.
Copper, a wide receiver for the Ravens, did not participate in practice this week. He injured his shoulder and neck while making a special teams tackle in last week’s win over the Houston Texans.
Copper, a former standout at Washington High School and East Carolina, has been ruled for today’s game.
Wilkins not seeing much action
Damien Wilkins is averaging 1.2 points and 1.2 rebounds per game for the Oklahoma City Thunder. The fifth-year veteran, a native of Washington, is averaging 8.30 minutes per game.
Wilkins hasn’t played in four of the team’s nine games, while only logging 10 seconds in another game. He averaged 9.2 points and 3.2 rebounds per game last season, logging just over 24 minutes per game.
Wilson records another sack
C.J. Wilson increased his sack total for the East Carolina Pirates in Saturday’s 21-3 loss to Southern Miss. Wilson finished with seven tackles, including a 13-yard sack and 1.5 tackles-for-loss.
Wilson, a former Northside High School star, has 51 tackles, 15.5 tackles-for-loss (for 64 yards), 7.5 sacks, four quarterback hurries, one forced fumble and one blocked kick.
The defensive end now has 116 tackles and 18.5 sacks in his career.
The Pirates (6-4, 4-2 C-USA) return to action Saturday in a 7 p.m. game at UAB. ECU closes out the regular season Nov. 28 in a 1 p.m. home game against UTEP.
Goddard has four tackles
Trimane Goddard had four tackles and one pass break-up for the North Carolina Tar Heels in Saturday’s 17-15 loss to Maryland.
For the season, Goddard, a former star at Roanoke High School, has six interceptions, 40 tackles, four pass break-ups, a fumble recovery and a forced fumble.
Goddard has 11 interceptions and 164 tackles in his career.
The Heels (7-3, 3-3 ACC) return to action Saturday in a noon kickoff at home against N.C. State. The Heels end the regular season Nov. 29 at Duke.
Hyman had another pick
Kenneth Hyman had another interception for the Guilford Quakers in Saturday’s season finale, a 44-7 loss to Emory &Henry. He also had two tackles and three pass break-ups for the Quakers (4-6, 1-5 ODAC).
Hyman, a former standout with the Roanoke Redskins, finished the season with five interceptions (one returned for a touchdown), 26 tackles, 10 pass break-ups and six pass deflections.
Rodgers, Cahoon play final game
Nigel Rodgers and Micke’l Cahoon were among the seniors honored prior to the season finale for the North Carolina Wesleyan Bishops, who took a 35-3 win over Greensboro College.
Rodgers, a former standout at Washington High School, had one tackle in the game and finished the season with 24.5 tackles and one pass break-up for Wesleyan (6-4, 5-2 USA South Conference).
Cahoon, a former standout at Creswell High School, had 19 tackles, including 11.5 for loss totaling 47 yards, on the season.
Jarret Coffield, a former standout at Williamston High School, went 1-for-6 for 79 yards and a touchdown from his quarterback spot.
Also, Floyd Moore, a former standout at Southside High School, did not recorded any tackles.
Smith playing with Tallahassee
Samantha Smith, a former standout at Washington High School, is in her first season playing with the Tallahassee Community College Lady Eagles.
Smith is averaging 2.0 points and 3.5 rebounds per game.
Cox playing with Blue Knights
Cor-J Cox, a former standout at Washington High School, is in his first season playing with the Olney Central College Blue Knights.
Cox is averaging 6.0 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game. He had 12 points in a 108-68 win over Mid American Nazarene.
Coffield still lighting it up
Elton Coffield is playing with the BSW Sixers in Germany once again.
The former Williamston High School and Mount Olive College star, who led the league in scoring last year, is averaging 23.1 points per game.
Barber playing in Japan
Joe Barber, a former standout at Terra Ceia College, is playing professionally in Japan.
Barber is averaging 8.1 points and 2.5 rebounds with the Sendia 89ers.
