Mrs. Estelle Leggett Briley, age 60, a resident of 108 N. Eden Drive, Smallwood, Washington, NC died Sunday, November 23, 2008 at her home.
A graveside funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at Oakdale Cemetery conducted by Eddie Bowen. Bill Mac Alligood, Jack Swanner, Ken Harris, Mac Gautier, Rupert Godley and Sammy Leggett will serve as pallbearers. Holman Cox will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
Mrs. Briley was born on December 6, 1947 to the late Sam Bell and Catherine Roberson Leggett. On May 31, 1969 she married Jerry Briley, who survives. Mrs. Briley was a retired case worker with the Beaufort County Department of Social Services. She was a member of the Old Ford Church of Christ where she served as an assistant Sunday school teacher.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Briley is survived by a daughter, Kit Briley Vick and her husband Kevin of Washington; a sister, Gay Saleeby of Wilmington, NC; a brother, Edward Leggett of Washington; a grandson, Mason Vick of Washington and a mother-in-law, Kathleen Whitley of Washington.
The family will receive friends on Monday, November 24, 2008 from 7 p.m.-8:30 p.m. at Paul Funeral Home of Washington and other times at the home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Old Ford Church of Christ, 6040 US Hwy 17 North, Washington, NC 27889.
