Mrs. Annie Belle Nobles Grissom, age 91, a resident of 301 Haw Branch Road, Chocowinity, died Friday, November 21, 2008 at Beaufort County Medical Center in Washington.
Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Sunday, November 23, 2008 at First Baptist Church in Chocowinity, conducted by Dr. Richard Sheriff and Rev. Roger Haithcock. Burial followed in Pamlico Memorial Gardens, Washington.
The following served as pallbearers: Steven Grissom, Joey Grissom, Milton Keeter, Jr., George Mading, Fentress Chappell, Dempsey Elks, David Elks, Phillip Grissom and Gabe Grissom.
Mrs. Grissom was born in Beaufort County on August 23, 1917. She was the daughter of the late George P. Nobles and Lucy Buck Nobles. Mrs. Grissom was a homemaker. She was a member of Smyrna Free Will Baptist Church and attended First Baptist Church in Chocowinity.
Mrs. Grissom was married to Arthur Willard Grissom, who preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Willard O. Grissom of Chocowinity; a daughter, Carolyn Haddock of Winterville; eight grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Grissom was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Lucille Elks; three brothers, Johnnie Nobles, Willie Nobles, and George Nobles, Jr.; and three sisters, Minnie Nobles Elks, Vera Nobles Boyd, and Esther Nobles Thompson.
The family received friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, November 22, 2008 at Paul Funeral Home, Washington and other times at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Willard and Judy Grissom, 256 Haw Branch Road, Chocowinity, N.C. 27817.
