Mrs. Ruby Paul Tankard

Mrs. Ruby Paul Tankard, age 74, a resident of 211 Ridgewood Lane, Washington, died Thursday, December 11, 2008 at Beaufort County Hospital in Washington.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, December 14, 2008 from the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home, Washington, conducted by Rev. Gary Murphree. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery, Washington.
The following will serve as pallbearers: John Moore, Brandon Moore, Jonathan Moore, James Moore, Brian Spivey, and David Stocks.
Mrs. Tankard was born in the Ransomville Community on February 7, 1934. She was the daughter of the late John G. Paul and Virgie Squires Paul. Mrs. Tankard was a 1952 graduate of John A. Wilkinson High School and attended Nursing School in Elizabeth City. She worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for many years. Later, Mrs. Tankard worked for Taylor Oil Company. She attended Wharton Trinity United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Tankard was married to Jack Tankard, who preceded her in death in 1974.
Mrs. Tankard is survived by two daughters, Kathy Harrell Moore and her husband, John A. Moore of Washington, Laurie “Dee” Harrell Stocks and her husband, David Stocks of Pinetown; one son, James “Bud” Harrell, Jr. of Pinetown; one brother, John David Paul of Rockingham; four grandchildren, Lisa Nicole Woolard, Caroline Forest, Olivia Forest, Kristin Stocks Thomas; two step sons, Jackie Tankard of Bath, Phillip Tankard of Beaufort; and four step grandsons, Brandon Moore, Jonathan Moore, James Moore and John Allen Moore, Jr.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Tankard was preceded in death by two sisters, Goldie Mae Anderson and Elizabeth Paul Rawls.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, December 13, 2008 at Paul Funeral Home, Washington and other times at the home, 211 Ridgewood Lane, Washington.
