YEATESVILLE — The Hurricanes started the game with a 14-0 run and kept their foot on the throttle all night long, as Pamlico raced past Washington, 86-64 to win the 2008 Washington Daily News Holiday Invitational.
Braelyn Blount scored 26 points to help the Hurricanes roar past the Pack, while Shane Whitlfield added 18 points and 10 rebounds. Kendall Hamm finished with 14 and Dominique Holliday chipped in with 13 for Pamlico (8-1).
Washington was led by Jarees Griffin, who had a game-high 27 points and eight rebounds, while Dakuan Spencer added 13 points, despite speding much of the evening on the bench with foul trouble.
Blount was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player after averaging 19 points per game in the three-day tournament.
The Pam Pack (7-4) will return to the hardwood Jan. 6 when it travels to New Bern, the only team to beat Pamlico this season.
