Mr. Billy McRoy

Mr. Billy McRoy, 77, of 402 East 11th Street, Washington, died Monday, December 22, 2008 at his home.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 27, 2008 in the chapel of Hillside Funeral Service with Pastor Thomas Lee officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. M. H. Apple, Billy Johnson, Johnny Pinkham, Macon Harris, Mark Harris and Wayne Watkins will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 PM, Friday, December 26, 2008 at Hillside Funeral Service and other times at the home.
Mr. McRoy was born September 22, 1931 in Beaufort County. He was the son of the late Jim and Susie Hodges McRoy. On October 2, 1954, he married the former Alice Roosevelt Chandler, who survives. Mr. McRoy was employed with Maola Ice Cream Company for 40 years. He also worked for Carolina Dairies and upon retirement worked part time for Piggly Wiggly. He attended 15th Street Church of God. Mr. McRoy loved people and telling old times stories.
Survivors include his wife Alice R. McRoy; his son, Billy Ray McRoy and his wife, Dawn of Washington; his daughter, Alice Faye Purifoy and her husband, Noah of Chocowinity; two brothers, Elmer Lee McRoy and Jerry McRoy, both of Florida; one sister, Esther Mae Norris of Virginia; two grandchildren, Macon Harris and Mark Harris; and one great-grandchild, Brandon Lee Harris.
In addition to his parents, Mr. McRoy was preceded in death by one daughter; six brothers, and three sisters.
