Mr. Harvey Edward Carawan, age 75, a resident of 256 Maple St., Pantego, died Thursday, December 25, 2008 at Beaufort County Medical Center.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, December 28, 2008 at Davis Cemetery and will be conducted by Derik Davis.
Mr. Carawan was born in Beaufort Co. on August 14, 1933 to the late Willie and Annie Mae Bridgeman Carawan. He was a graduate of Sladesville High School and then went on to serve in the United States Army during the Korean War. On September 28, 1957, he married Mary Ann Credle, who survives. He was a member of the Scranton Christian Church, Masonic Lodge of Belhaven and the Shriners.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Carawan of the home; two daughters, Joy Carawan of Nashville, N.C., Cathy Anderson and husband Jamie of Rocky Mount; two sons, Rex Carawan and wife Linda of Pantego, Brent Carawan of Pantego; three grandchildren, Jordan Carawan, Ryan Carawan and Taylor Carawan. He was preceded in death by one son, Eric Carawan; one grandson, Christopher Carawan; two brothers, Ralph Carawan, Ben Carawan and one sister, Ann Carawan.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Saturday, December 27, 2008 at Paul Funeral Home of Belhaven and other times at the home.
