Mrs. Georgianna Marie Burgeson Wessels, 74, of 210 N. Whispering Pines Road, Washington, died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2008, at home.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Mother of Mercy Catholic Church, Washington.
Mrs. Wessels was born in Bronx County, New York, on Nov. 5, 1934. She was the daughter of the late Herbert C. and Ottillie Von Kraft Burgeson. She was a 1952 graduate of George Washington High School in New York. On April 24, 1954, she married George John Wessels Jr., who survives. She was an accountant with Bandell Wooley Accounting in Clearwater, Fla., before moving to Washington in 1993. She was a member of Mother of Mercy Catholic Church, Washington.
Survivors include two daughters, Nina M. Wilmot of Elizabethtown and Geri A. Pridgen of Washington; one sister, Constance Burns of Greenville, S.C.; five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
A rosary service will be recited today at 6:30 p.m. at Paul Funeral Home, Washington. The family will receive friends following the rosary until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Flowers are welcome or the family asks that any memorial contributions be made to Mother of Mercy Catholic Church, St. Vincent Depaul Society, 112 W. Ninth St., Washington, NC 27889.
