Orlo V. Rath

Mr. Orlo Valdoan Rath, 93, of Roper, died Friday, Jan. 2, 2009, at Plumblee Nursing Center, Plymouth.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Zion’s Chapel Church of Christ, Roper, with Mark Wilmoth officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Rath was born in Hicksville, Ohio, on June 28, 1915. He was the son of the late Joseph W. and Flossie Hursch Wilson Rath. He was married to Margaret Davenport Rath, who preceded him in death. He was a retired maintenance worker with Bob Swain, Inc. He was a member of Zion’s Chapel Church of Christ, Roper.
Survivors include one daughter, Twila R. Drew of Angier; two sons, David J. Rath of Roper and Joseph D. Rath of Irmo, S.C.; one brother, Joseph Rath of Omaha, Neb.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Clara Wilson and two sisters, Pauline Synder and Jeanette Rath.
The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall and other times at the home of his son.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Zion’s Chapel Church of Christ, Roper.
Arrangements are by Maitland Memorial Chapel, Plymouth.
