Mr. David Earl “Bill” Bryant, 72, a resident of 2250 Matthews Road, Bethel, died Friday, Jan. 9, 2009, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
A graveside funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Bethel Cemetery with the Rev. Delmus Ayers officiating.
Mr. Bryant was born April 27, 1936. He was the son of the late Gordon Earl Bryant and Addie Gertrude Roberson Bryant. He attended Lawrence Baptist Church. Mr. Bryant was a Navy veteran, serving in the Korean War. He worked as a boiler operator at Burroughs Wellcome for 22 years, serving on the fire brigade. He was a member of the Bethel Fire Department for 20 years.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Harrell Bryant of the home; a daughter, Vickie Rogister of Bethel; two sisters, Betty Jean King of Westminster, Colo., and Ann Cowan of Williamston; a brother, James “Jim” Melvin Bryant of Bethel; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Walker’s Ayres Chapel in Bethel and other times at the home.
