Mr. Cyril E. “Ted” Tetterton, 73, of 5589 Broad Creek Road, Washington, died Monday, Jan. 12, 2009, at Beaufort County Medical Center in Washington.
A funeral will be conducted at 4:30 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Hillside Funeral Service, Washington with Arthur Ball Jr. officiating. David Ambrose, Linwood Ambrose, Chad Bass, William Bass, Richard Carter and Norman Tetterton will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Tetterton was born in Beaufort County on Nov. 12, 1935. He was the son of Hassell Linwood and Arkatie Blanche Boyd Tetterton. He graduated from Bath High School. He served as a firefighter in the Air Force. On June 8, 1956, he married the former Sue Bass, who survives. He worked at Texasgulf (PCS) as mill shift maintenance man and retired in 1990. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include one son, Jim Tetterton of Washington; two brothers, Gene Ellis Tetterton of Charleston, S.C., and Jackie Norman Tetterton of Washington; two sisters, Dean Tetterton Ambrose and Joann Tetterton Black, both of Washington; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Tim Tetterton; one daughter, Teresa Tetterton and one sister, Brenda Kay Tetterton Edwards.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 3-4:30 p.m. at Hillside Funeral Service, Washington.
