YEATESVILLE — After keeping up with Camden for the first two quarters, Northside let the game get away from it in the second half where Camden out-scored the Panthers 43-29 en route to a 75-53 victory Friday night.
Heading into halftime Northside (8-11, 3-6) trailed by only eight points, but just ran out of gas in the last two quarters.
Camden featured four players that scored in double figures, and were led by C.J. Williams’ 17 points. Ricky Krainiack netted 16, while Byron Brooks added 14 and Demetris Branch chipped in 10.
The Panthers were guided by Isaiah McCullor, who scored a game-high 18 points. Taylor Woolard was the only other Northside player to hit double-digits with 10 points.
Procter said McCullor’s game has improved as the season has progressed.
Bruins edge out Panthers
With under 10 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter Northside had one last chance to tie Camden, but could not fire off the shot it was looking for and fell 32-29 to the Bruins on Friday.
The Panthers’ got off to a slow start, scoring only eight points in the first two quarters combined. The good news was that the Bruins weren’t much better, and held a slim 12-8 lead at the break.
Camden (4-14, 3-7) got a stellar game from point guard Allison Cuthell who netted a game-high 17 points and did a nice job handling the ball against Northside.
The Panthers (7-9, 1-5) were led by Elizabeth Harris who shot lights out from downtown and poured in 15 of the team’s 29 points.
Northside coach Michelle Leathers said she liked the effort she got from her team.
Northside will be back in action on Tuesday when it travels to Manteo.
