Mr. Joseph Ray Jackson, 60, of Rocky Mount, died Monday, Feb. 2, 2009, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Everetts Baptist Church with the Rev. Jason Lineburger officiating. Burial will follow in Martin Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Jackson was born in Martin County on June 30, 1948. He was the son of Loraine B. Mobley of Williamston and the late Herbert Jackson. He was married to Brenda “Kay” Evans Jackson, who survives. He was employed by West Point Stevens, Inc. for 25 years. He was a member of Everetts Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon.
Survivors include one son, Christopher Jackson of Greenville; one daughter, Brandi Jackson Council of Jamesville; one brother, Freddie Jackson of Williamston and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Johnnie Mobley.
The family will receive friends today from 7-9 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, Williamston, and other times at the home of his mother, 13042 U.S. Highway 64, Williamston.
