Mr. Joseph Elliott Vick, 71, of 212 Pontiac Drive, Washington, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009, at home.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Oakdale Cemetery, Washington, with pastor Gary Thompson officiating. Mr. Vick’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers: Ronnie Owens, Chris Brame, Jason Heath, Jeremey Warren, Mark Waters, Joey Vick and Justin Vick.
Mr. Vick was born in Pitt County on June 16, 1937. He was the son of the late Sylvester and Zeeta Marie Copeland Vick. He served in the Army. He was a retired plumber. He was married to the former Helen Hope Ball, who preceded him in death June 13, 2008.
Survivors include his children, James Brame of Greenville, Angela Heath of Simpson, Kathy Waters of Greenville and Gary Vick of Washington; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, J.A. Vick; one brother, Jack Vick; and four sisters, Hazel Brame, Rachel Summerlin, Lake McLawhorn and Annie Gurganus.
The family will receive friends today from 7-8:30 p.m. at Paul Funeral Home, Washington, and other times at the home.
