Iola I. Leary, 77, of Lowland, died peacefully Tuesday, at her home.
Born in Lowland, she was the daughter of the late Catherine and Freeman E. Ireland.
She was a loving wife and mother; devoted grandmother and special friend. She was lovingly known as “granny” to many. She dearly loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was always admired for her sweet spirit and loving-kindness.
She was a faithful member of Warden’s Grove Free Will Baptist Church in Lowland for many years; serving as teacher and treasurer, as well as a member of the Women’s Auxiliary. She loved the Lord and her church family.
Funeral Services will be held at Warden’s Grove Church at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 14, with the Rev. Swade Benson, Rev. Earl Sadler and Brother John Carawan officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday night, February 13 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Bryant Funeral Home in Alliance or at the residence 4361 Lowland Rd, at other times.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Elwood Leary. She is survived by 3 sons; Michael E. Leary and his wife, Nancy, Steven E. Leary, and his wife, Pattie, and Timothy J. Leary, all of Lowland; four grandchildren, Nanda Leary Perry and her husband, Jason, of Washington, NC, Bryan Michael Leary of Greenville, Ashley Carol Leary and Autumn Kendyl Leary both of Wilmington; two great-grandchildren, Matthew and Brenna Perry of Washington; one sister, Ramona Willis of Arapahoe; two brothers, Dolan Ireland of New Bern and Zool Ireland of Lowland.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Bennie Ireland.
