Mr. Melvin Earl “Little Boy” Mason, 63, of 5619 Jackson Swamp Road, Bath, died Friday, Feb. 6, 2009.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Beaufort County Alumni Building, Swamp Road, Pantego, with the Rev. Billy C. Boyd officiating. Burial will follow in Northside Cemetery, Belhaven.
Mr. Mason was born in Beaufort County on Jan. 17, 1946. He was the son of Daniel Webster Mason of Pantego and the late Emma Gibbs Mason. He was a 1965 graduate of Beaufort County High School in Pantego. He was married to Lillian Mason, who survives. He was a former employee of National Spinning Co. and Flanders Filters Inc. in Washington; Fox Fire Farms in Pinetown and Killebeck Farms in Bath. His last employer was Elliot Farms in Bath. He was a member of Zion Temple F.W.B. Church in Pantego.
Survivors include one daughter, Emma Mason Brooks of Washington; one son, Anthony D. Mason of Bath; his father, Daniel Webster Mason of Pantego; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Harry Mason of Belhaven and George Mason of Hemming Way S.C.; and one sister, Eldora Minx of Chesapeake, Va.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Daniel W. Mason, Frank E. Mason, Charles Mason and Donald Mason.
The body will be placed in the Beaufort County Alumni Building one hour prior to the service. The family will receive friends at the home.
