Mr. Hilton Kiola Hodges, age 82, a resident of 6813 Brooks Ally, Grifton and a former resident of Aurora died Friday February 13, 2009 at UHS Inpatient Hospice of Greenville.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Monday February 16, 2009 at White Hill Free Will Baptist Church in the Small community of Aurora officiated by Rev. Ray Pearce and Rev. Wesley Taylor. Burial will follow in the White Hill Church Cemetery. Brandon Dail, Johnny Blaylock, James D. Lewis, Ed Evans, Johnny Lewis and Marvin Evans will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Hodges was born in Beaufort County on December 23, 1926 son of the late Snodie Hodges and the late Minnie Bell Rowe Hodges. He attended Aurora Schools and served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Mr. Hodges married the former Doris Marie Lewis on May 24, 1947 who survives. He was a retired foreman with PCS Phosphate Company in Aurora who had been self-employed as a Dog Breeder and a Master Carpenter. Mr. Hodges was a life member of the Aurora VFW Post and a member of White Hill Free Will Baptist Church.
Surviving along with Mr. Hodges’ wife Marie of the home are two daughters: Linda H. Rowe and her husband Hugh of Grifton and Jo H. Taylor and her husband Glenn of the Small community; a sister: Lillie Bell Ross of Grantsboro; a special family friend that Mr. Hodges considered as his daughter: Lola Evans and her husband Ed of Aurora, their son Marvin and grandson Ethan; five grandchildren: Chris Rowe and his wife Heather, Jodi Dail and her husband Brandon, Jessica Taylor, Hannah Taylor and Katie Blaylock and her husband Johnny; four great grandchildren: Brooke Rowe, Jordan Dail, Logan Dail and Dakota Blaylock and Mr. Hodges’ furry friend Ginger. Mr. Hodges was preceded in death along with his parents by two brothers: Swindell Hodges and Murray Hodges.
The family will receive friends 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday February 15, 2009 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington and at other times at the home of Mr. Hodges’ daughter Jo Taylor located at 1208 Wall’s Mill Road, Aurora, NC
