Mrs. Gladys Belle Lewis Smith, 91, of Vanceboro, died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Wilkerson Funeral Home, Vanceboro with the Revs. Mike Coombs and Mike Scott officiating. Burial will follow in Greenleaf Memorial Park, New Bern.
Mrs. Smith was a lifelong resident of Vanceboro. She was married to Wilbur O. Smith, who preceded her in death. She was a member of Oak Grove Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors include her children, Ronald Smith of Cove City, Donald Smith of Washington, Bobby Smith, Lois Fornes and Betty Barr, all of Vanceboro; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Geraldine Carrow and Elitha Jenkins and one grandson, Rod Smith.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Wilkerson Funeral Home, Vanceboro, and other times at the home of her daughter, Lois Fornes, 222 Oak Grove Road, Vanceboro.
